BROADBAND WIDE AREA NETWORKS
Ethernet Wide Area Network Architecture
Conterra’s broadband networks are designed for extremely high availability (in excess of 99.995% per link) and overall end-to-end network availability at 99.99%, translating to link downtime of literally only seconds annually, which is equal to and sometimes greater then all optical fiber systems. We utilize existing and new fiber optical connections in our network design when they are economically feasible.
When microwave links are deployed, each circuit is custom designed using FCC Licensed frequencies (6, 11, 18, 23 GHz). Licensed radios have to meet stringent FCC specifications concerning transmit power, channel spacing, bandwidth utilization, receiver discrimination, antenna size and even the width of the radio beam. This all adds up to provide links that are high-performance, interference free, low latency and packet size independent. The circuits will have the same throughput and reliability characteristics of an all fiber optic network solution.
